I wanted to start my first newsletter as a reflection of my first month being Miss Gay Arizona America (MGAA). The night of June 26th has forever changed my life. I have finally become a part of the elite sisterhood that I fell in love with 16 years ago.
Since being crowned MGAA, the amount of love, respect, and support that I have been shown is overwhelming. It is a constant reminder of why we do pageants... Through stress, heartache, and victory the community is always by my side.
I have been given so many new opportunities including joining the cast of Elements at BsWest on Friday nights and monthly engagements with Janee Starr in Tucson. I am looking forward to taking these opportunities to meet new people, make new friends, and educate a whole new audience on the Miss Gay America System and what it means to be a symbol of excellence!
It really sunk in for me that I am the reigning Miss Gay Arizona while doing my official photoshoot with Scotty Kirby. It was so much more than a normal shoot! It was something I had spent the last 5 years working toward. I am looking forward to releasing the photos throughout my reign, and I hope they are as special to you as they are to me.
We finished off the month with the MGAA preliminary promoters meeting to plan and discuss the 2017 season. We have started setting dates and have a lot of great things planned, including an all new Miss Gay Arizona America workshop. More details to come.....
Each month of my reign, I have made a commitment to donate all tips that I recieve during crown songs to local organizations of my choosing. For the month of July, I decided to donate to TIHAN (Tucson Interfaith HIV & Aids Network). They are an incredible organization that offers compassionate and non-judgemental services to those affected with HIV & AIDS through education and support. I encourage anyone interested in volunteering or learning more about the organization to visit them at www.tihan.org or 520-299-6647. I am proud to announce that with all of your generosity, a total of $455.00 will be presented to TIHAN.
With Aids Walk Arizona quickly approaching, I will be joining Barbra Seville's Wonderful 100 and for the month of August, all crown song tips will be donated to Aunt Rita's Foundation; a non profit organization that raises funds for 16 local HIV/AIDS organizations. For more information about Aids Walk Arizona and Aunt Rita's foundation please visit www.auntritas.org or 602-904-6001.
I am looking forward to August and another month being able to say that I am your Miss Gay Arizona America 2016. Thank you all for believing in me!
All my love and respect,
Miss Gay Arizona America 2016
