The Miss Gay Copper City America Preliminary has always been a special time in my life. Not only was it my second preliminary on my journey to being Miss Gay Arizona America, but I felt it was truly the time I realized what it meant to be a “Symbol of Excellence” and it became my journey to really change my whole outlook on Female Impersonation, The America System, Pageantry and the Communities perception of who “Nevaeh McKenzie” truly was. I often find myself remembering that time in my life when I was struggling with family life and allowing them to accept me as a gay man along with still finding my place in this community. I started this art with the idea that “Queens” needed to be a certain way in order to get bookings or even get noticed, clearly I learned this lesson the hard way. With that said, I truly owe this preliminary and my second attempt at becoming Miss Gay Arizona America, a huge debt of gratitude. I couldn’t have been more supported by the Promoters of Miss Gay Copper City America, Joey Saputo and Former (and my first) Miss Gay Arizona America TC Taylor, without them, I don’t think Nevaeh McKenzie would have been able to crawl out of the hole she dug for herself and therefore, I thank you two for all you did back in 2011.
On January 17th 2016, we celebrated this fabulous preliminary and honored my sister and 1st alt. to Miss Gay Arizona America, Savannah Stevens! I cannot even begin to tell you how honored I was to go to Miss Gay America with Savannah and have her by my side on my reign as MGAA. Savannah, you are such an incredible Entertainer, Community Advocate and Friend! A huge Congratulations to my sister as she was awarded by Miss Gay America 2015 Blair Williams, the “Best Talent” across the country for her Reba Talent! You are truly one of my biggest inspirations and I know for a fact that YOU will be Miss Gay America! Speaking of Miss Gay America, we were so elated to have our very own Symbol of Excellence, Miss Gay America Asia O’Hara with us all weekend leading up to Miss Gay Copper City. Asia, I hope you had a fabulous time with us. I am always overwhelmed by your beauty and grace! Thank you for entertaining and being with us all weekend and truly being such a huge support to me over my administrative duties! C’Mon Chuck!
The Miss Gay Copper City America 2016 had 5 fabulous contestants: Amber Rains, Vita Krawford, Lady Ashley, Robyn Mansions and Jessica Michaels. Once again, I was completely blown away by the hard work and dedication these contestants showed for this pageant. A lot of these entertainers, it was their first pageant ever! However, their whole presentation would have made you think they were in this business for YEARS! I truly wish I could allow all of them to qualify to MGAA, but alas, Lady Ashley came out the victor and Miss Amber Rains became her 1st alternate. To all contestants: Thank you for all your hard work, persistence and perseverance! If this is truly your dream, do not allow anyone to stop you! “You can hear a million, ‘No’s’ but all you need is one ‘Yes’…”
To the Promoters of Miss Gay Copper City, TC Taylor and Joey Saputo, thank you for creating such a fabulous environment and contest for everyone, including myself, I truly can’t tell you enough how much your love and support has been before my win, during my reign, and this pageant! Thank you to my judges who (I know) had a really difficult job in selecting the next Miss Gay Copper City, and more so providing such a supportive energy in critiques! To everyone who came out and supported! I can’t thank you all enough for supporting such an exceptional system, it is truly because of you sitting in the audience, that we do what we do as entertainers. Your continued support truly leaves me flustered every time I step on stage! I am so excited to announce the Miss Gay Phoenix America “Transcendence” is happening February 20th at Charlies Phoenix!
