Looking back on my year as Miss Gay Tucson America I can say I have never felt so much love, respect, admiration from my community and my fellow entertainers. I cannot say THANK YOU enough. The moment Grecia and Regine placed that tiara on my head my life changed and seeing my friends tearing up I knew it was my turn to continue the tradition of excellence in Tucson.
My first goal when I started female impression was to wear the Tucson crown but at that time I didn’t know the path that would take me on. Thank you to Bunny Fufu, Janee Starr, Lucinda Holiday, you three were the first to know about my decision to start this journey and you all of you opened your hearts and stages to help me grow. I admit I thought I was on another when I start because of my friends but the stage and audience humbled me and pushed me to grow. That’s when Jessica Deveraux, Josie P. Katt, and Andrew Raymer stepped and showed this baby queen some very help make up, costume, and performance tips. Using those tips I started working more and getting experience. Now the best piece of advice I have ever got was from China Collins and Tori Steele “Shut your mouth and open your ears.”
With my attitude and new look I was ready to conquer the Miss Gay Tucson title!!! Fate had other plans I watched Tempest DuJour, Vivika D’Angelo, Diva, Jasmine White all crowned Miss Gay Tucson America. I felt like I couldn’t step out of the first alternates club. Then after Miss Gay Arizona America 2013 I got a message from Big Booty Judy “you are running for Copper City next year and I will help you. Put your dream on hold for now.” With that Message I became a Judy and TC girl. With Team Copper City help I achieved something that shocked me to my core I made top five and Miss Gay Arizona America. I don’t remember my question but I looked around and was in awe I was standing up there with Janee, Savannah, Lady Christian, and Grecia.
Something was different now I had the drive and determination to achieve my goal. I contacted one of my good friends and my original Stud and we started prepping for Miss Gay Tucson America 2015. I only told a handful of people my plans. Everyone was excited and encouraging. The day before I made a very vague post on Facebook and that was my announcement of returning to Miss Gay Tucson America. The day of Miss Tucson I was so confident in myself and my package. At the end of the night Diva said the words I have been waiting eight years for “Please meet and greet your new Miss Gay Tucson America 30th anniversary … Bianca Solei!!!” I practiced this moment but when it actually happens it’s like time stops. All the forever (formers) Miss Gay Tucson started pinning the tiara in and I could feel every one of them. Standing up and doing my first crown number was amazing!!! Since that night I have been a cloud.
Returning to Miss Gay Arizona America had a goal and hashtag (#3030) I wanted to be the 30th Miss Gay Arizona America. Team Tucson was ready to take over! I went into Arizona with all the confidence in the World. Seeing Blair Williams after interview reassured me that I was on the right track. That weekend was smooth and everything I thought was perfect. Before Top five was announced I was able to take a moment and breathe with one of my favorite people Savannah Stevens. I understand why we do these pageants (contests) now we are able to show our talents but we also get to make lifelong friends. Once again I made the top five but this night belonged to Savannah and Miss Gay Arizona America 2015 Nevaeh McKenzie.
This year I was able to do so much more than perform in bars I was able to be at the best community event Jell-O Wrestling, Turn About for Tihan, SAAF Celebration of Life, Phoenix Pride, and Tucson Pride. These events are more than you, more than your title; it’s the city of Tucson taking care of its own.
